Street art stores outside New York park are a staple fixture. And to most they are nothing special at all. People pass by the open air art stands all the time not really noticing what is really for sale. But for one lady her last day living in New York turned into something special.

As she passed the store she had a feeling it was the works of a famous street artist Banksy. So she stopped to investigate. Banksy’s art can sell for hundreds of thousands of dollar. So she went to the man tending the store and asked him are these the real thing?

He just looked at her and said yep. Well she was skeptical but decided to return and make some purchases before leaving New York. So she ended up buying two pieces or art for a total of $60.00 US dollars. The man shook her hand and she went on her merry way. The next day she saw the video (see art sale video below) on the Banksy web site. Her purchases were real. The lady from New Zeland buys 2 real pieces of of Banksy art.

So what’s the lesson to be learned from this art sale experiment? The venue make a big difference. Take the same pieces of art and sell them in a galley and the value goes up dramatically. Why is because your perception changes, the people around you change.

The actual value of the two pieces of Banksy art the lady purchased was over $200,000.00. And remember she only paid $60.00. A nice bargain wouldn't you say?
